ETHEL C. PECHMAN (nee Chopp), aged 101, went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2019. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John, brother, James, and sister Naomi. She is survived by her devoted children, Deborah Reichheld (Charles), John Pechman III, and Jennifer Weiler (Kevin), as well as 9 grandchildren, Lindsey, Ashley, John IV, Whitney, Matthew, Kevin, Colleen, Chase and Jackie, and 7 great-grandchildren, Ryckie, Cole, Savi, Beckham, Frances, Murphy and Robinson, with one great granddaughter on the way.
Ethel was born on May 2, 1917, to the late Clarence and Lillian Chopp. A long-time resident of Independence, Ohio, she lived a rich and full life. Everyone familiar with Ethel knew she was always active and appreciated her intelligence and uncommon sense of humor. At different points in her life she was an executive secretary and real estate agent. She eventually became a court reporter and was trusted to transcribe challenging medical testimony. Having learned from her mother, she was a skilled seamstress. She enjoyed Bible study and golf. She was involved in the League of Women Voters, the Independence Republican Club, Independence Campsighters, and Toastmasters. She dearly loved her Savior, Jesus, and was a member of Parma Heights Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 -11 AM, Friday, February 1, 2019, at Parma Heights Baptist Church, 8971 W. Ridgewood Drive, Parma Heights, Ohio (at corner of W. Ridgewood Drive and Day Drive), where a Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM. A lunch reception will immediately follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave., Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814, or the Pancreatic Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
