Bridget Basta

A life-long resident of Garfield Heights, Bridget Basta (nee Strizzi), age 91, passed away on April 26. Bridget's style and sharp fashion and decorating eye were well known. Often referred to as the "Fancy Grandma, " Bridget always knew what was on trend and likely ahead of it. A hair stylist for more than 50 years, she owned and operated the successful Winning Image beauty salon. Born to immigrants during the depression and a native Italian speaker, Bridget never saw limitations - only possibilities. Bridget's love of her church was manifest through her many committee and guild positions and activities. Never one to shy away from a leadership opportunity, Bridget could always be counted upon to fill the gap - with new friends and new decorations - for the next social event. The beloved wife of her high school boyfriend, the late Raymond S. Basta Jr., she is survived by her daughters Renai Lowry (Brian) and Paula Basta (Terri Worman). She was the devoted and fun-loving Gram of Brie Lowry Cox (T. J.) and Griffin Lowry (Maria) with whom she shared "good conversation" and cinematic stories. She is survived by her dearest sisters Anne Marie Skuta (Leonard, deceased) and Nancy Magalski (Anthony, deceased), her sister-in-law Rina Strizzi and numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Willie Strizzi and sister Linda O'Brien. Family and friends are asked to meet at St.Therese Church, 5276 East 105th St., Garfield Heights, OH 44125, for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 10:00am. Visitation at the church 9:00am-10:00am (one hour prior to Mass). Interment at Calvary Cemetery will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to St. Therese Church or a charity of personal choice.
