Donald Sanford Kohls, age 83, peacefully passed away on April 21, 2024 with his beloved wife Donna (nee Benyei) by his side. He was the son of Arthur and Amelia Kohls (both deceased). Don was a loving father to Matthew Kohls (Kevin Hawksworth), James Baker (Cheryl), Mark Baker (Rebecca), Andrea Stegmaier (Bill), Daniel Aldridge (Tracey), and Lisa Brady; cherished grandfather of Kara Hutter (Trevor), Michael Baker (Melanie), Mark Baker, David Baker (deceased) Brittany Stegmaier (David Schierbaum), Jenna Anderson (Trevor), Kate Aldridge (Brandon), Sam Brady and Ed Brady; great grandfather of Christian Baker and Maxwell Baker; dear brother-in-law to Daniel Benyei (Cathy) and brother to Gertrude Zukaitis (deceased), Harold "Buddy" Kohls (deceased) (Evelyn), Bernice Henning (Ed). He was also a loving uncle and great uncle of many.
Don was born in Sturgeon Bay, WI and he proudly served as an Air Policeman in the United States Air Force. After his service, he started a career with J.C. Penney Co. where he worked until he retired. After retriement he took a part-time job position with Federated Auto which he really enjoyed and of course, made many new friends including a friendship with John Grega, which continued until his passing. Don enjoyed fishing, golf and was a sports fanatic, especially of the Green Bay Packers although, upon moving to the Cleveland area, he quickly became a fan of all of the Cleveland sports teams. On any given night, you could find Don and Donna at a game, a concert or a show, supporting their grandchildren in their various activities. Don never met a person he didn't like. When you met Don he was an instant friend and he was loved by all.
Friends may call at GOLUBSKI DELIBERATO FUNERAL HOME, 4747 TURNEY RD., CORNER OF GARFIELD BLVD. FOR A MEMORIAL GATHERING ON FRIDAY MAY 3, 2024 FROM 5-8PM, with a Memorial Service to begin at 7:30pm. Inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 12:45pm (please arrive by 12:30pm)
