Joanne Black Obituary

Joanne Black (nee Rogalski), age 85 passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Monday, July 13, 2020.

She died peacefully at the home of her youngest daughter, surrounded by love.

Joni was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund & Anna Rogalski and her only sister, Ann J. Rogalski.

Joni was born in Slavic Village on October 17, 1934. She attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and graduated from St. Stanislaus High School. After high school, she worked at Cleveland Pneumatic, where she met her husband of forty years, Marion. Together they raised their family in Slavic Village, later moving to Garfield Heights as empty nesters. She retired from Jorgensen Steel (formerly Allan United Steel) after many years of loyal service as an office administrator. She loved reading, bowling, word searches, shopping, watching movies, and her many cats (all of whom predeceased her). She especially looked forward to her weekly beauty shop appointment at Ricco’s. Our Matriarch will be missed for the lovely, joyful, and generous person that she was, but we will be covered by her many years of faithful and devotional prayers on our behalf. We are comforted by the blessed assurance that she is having a joyful reunion in Heaven.

Joni was the loving wife of the late Marion. Beloved mother of Lorri Stewart (Jack), David Black (deceased), Kimberly Mastroianni (Damon) and stepdaughter, Vicki Black. Cherished grandmother of Nicole Shefrin (Jason), Jason Bukovan, Katie Myers (Jeremy), Michael Munici (Ashley), Hannah McKee (Cory), Emily Stewart (engaged to Erik Early) and Leslie Stewart. Loving Great grandmother of Audrey, Isabelle, and Caroline Shefrin, Jeremy and Jacob Myers, Caleb, Joshua, and Jayden Munici. Also survived by aunts, cousins and many dear friends, especially Robert Feeney (Jacki), her “second son” whom she adopted in her heart and her god-daughter, Janice Tunder (Jim).

All services and interment are private.
