Joy Glebocki Obituary

Joy Olive Glebocki (nee Elstone) passed away on March 9, 2022 several months short of her 93rd birthday. She was preceded in death by parents Annie and Fred, her loving husband Matthew, sisters Jean Comley and Pam Parker, sister-in-law Dot Elstone, and brothers-in-law Tony Oslejsek and Lol Comley.

Joy met Matt in England after WWII where Matt had arrived from Poland. He immigrated to the United States first, settling in Cleveland, and asked Joy to follow which she did in 1951. They were married at Transfiguration Catholic Church in 1952. They had three children which survive her - Jeff, Donna Alto (Frank) and Lynn Hunt (Ray). Joy is also survived by brother Ken Elstone, sister Shirley Oslejsek, brother-in-law Tony Parker, and California friends Ron Stewart and Carlos Sosa.

Joy saw all her grandchildren - Sean (Kelly), Rachel, Ashley, Matthew and Evan - graduate from college; and had time with her great grandchildren - Mason, Jackson and Mackenzie - and her nieces and nephews in the U.S., England and New Zealand.

She was a member of her informal social group, the "English Girls," 17-plus close friends who had also immigrated to the U.S. decades ago. Over the past many years, she and her late, dear friend from that group, Frances Chlad, enjoyed watching General Hospital and going on adventures together. Joy was proud to maintain her British citizenship while learning how to prepare Matt's favorite Polish dishes and embracing American baseball and basketball. She traveled near and far with family and friends - England, France, New Zealand, Hawaii, California, Arizona, Nevada, Florida, South Carolina, New York and Vermont.

Her family is organizing a Celebration of Life to be held in Cleveland, Ohio in the spring/summer of 2022 to share memories and stories about Mom/Nana/Granny Griddle/Joy. In lieu of flowers, Joy asked for family and friends to make a donation to a charity of their choice.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
