Sr. Martha Cherney

Sister Martha (Marty) Cherney, SSJ-TOSF, age 92; passed away February 18, 2023; beloved daughter of John and Mary (nee Docik) (both deceased); loving sister and sister-in-law of the following deceased: Andrew (Mary) and John (Josephine); dearest aunt and great aunt. Sr. Marty is survived by the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Third Order of Saint Francis, with whom she shared her life for 70 years. Sister Marty's ministry to God and His people were spent in food service for her sisters and associates, hospitals and the parishioners to whom she ministered. Sister Marty had a love of baking, decorating cakes for all occasions, which brought her joy as the recipients viewed their special cake for the first time. She always believed that one eats first with their eyes, so it was important to her that her creations were pleasing to the eyes. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Assisi Chapel, Villa St. Joseph, 5200 Marymount Village Dr., Garfield Heights. Visitation at Assisi Chapel one hour prior to Mass from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
