Sylvia Steen Obituary

Sylvia Zbikowski Anderson Steen, 90
Birth Daughter of Charlotte Jagoda, adopted daughter of Viola and Michael Zbikowski, and wife of Bernard Douglas Steen (all deceased).
Strong and loving mother of Valerie Schloss, John (Alycia), and Michael (Patty).
Devoted grandmother of Tim, Madeline, Ben, Nick, Gerrit, and Andrew.
Cousin of Ron (deceased) and Bob Jagoda and Carol Kraynak.
Lifelong friend to many including a special group from St. Stan's kindergarten and Fenn College.

Sylvia graduated from South High School in 1948 and Fenn College (now Cleveland State University) in 1955. After college, she was a business education teacher at Collinwood High School until her marriage to Bernie in 1957. They moved from Cleveland to Houston, Texas, Metairie, Louisiana, Skokie, Illinois, Park Ridge, Illinois, Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and then Sleepy Hollow, California. After Bernie's death in 1968, Sylvia moved her three young children back to Cleveland. She became a longtime resident of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She supported her children through owning and managing real estate, her love of the stock market, and as a part-time secretary for several retired CEOs. She was inspiring and independent. After her adoptive parents' deaths, she found her birth mother and developed a lasting relationship with her and her extended family. Sylvia was a trophy-winning bowler, a trendsetter when it came to food, and an avid gardener.
